I especially love the idea of letting our daughters know that it’s okay to enjoy getting to be young–that growing up quickly doesn’t equal “coolness,” but rather savoring the simple delights of girlhood are what make life sweet. E.g.: “This is the only year you’ll get to be 11. I want you to enjoy it.” I am SO going to borrow that line!
